29th SOGESP Congress: Diving into Science for Women’s Health

São Paulo, July 18, 2024 — From August 22 to 24, the Transamérica Expo Center, located in the Santo Amaro district of São Paulo, will host the 29th Congress of the São Paulo State Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology (SOGESP). The event is set to bring together approximately 7,000 gynecologists, obstetricians, and international guests for a comprehensive exploration of the field.

Gynecology: Advancements and Training

The Congress will feature an extensive program in Gynecology, including pre-congress courses, informal debates, scientific paper presentations, and awards. Noteworthy activities include six practical course stations covering topics such as laser use in the genital tract, sutures and perineal rupture, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, vaginal radiofrequency, and contraceptive methods.

Lucia Helena Paiva, SOGESP’s scientific coordinator for Gynecology, emphasizes the significance of the topics being discussed: “We will address 13 thematic subareas, including hormonal treatment, endocrine gynecology, climacteric and contraception, and family planning, which are highly sought after by attendees.”

Obstetrics: Innovations and Continuous Education

In the Obstetrics sector, Professor Rosiane Mattar, SOGESP’s scientific coordinator, highlights that one of the event’s highlights this year will be the pre-congress courses covering current topics like supplements and probiotics during pregnancy, cosmiatry, birth plans, and new obesity medications. The program will also include practical sessions on glucose meters and insulin use, case discussions on prematurity, infections, and fetal medicine.

“We’re introducing a new dynamic to make the courses more engaging and relevant for participants. Additionally, there will be a workshop for residents,” explains Rosiane Mattar. The interactive sessions with congress participants and experts will provide a valuable exchange of knowledge and a thorough update on Obstetrics topics.
